belonging and connection

Kaipara District Council’s Welcoming Plan is about creating a place where every new arrival feels seen, valued, and at home. It’s about much more than offering services — it’s about building real connections. Through welcome packs, community events, and partnerships with local groups, Kaipara invites newcomers to share their stories, talents, and dreams. This is a district where neighbours become friends, cultures are celebrated, and everyone has space to belong. It’s a promise that no matter where you come from, in Kaipara, you’ll be welcomed into this special community like you’re one of our own.

WELCOMING COMMUNITIES PROGRAMME

Kaipara District Council’s Welcoming Communities Plan is a strategic initiative aimed at fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for newcomers, including migrants, former refugees, and international students. As part of the national Welcoming Communities programme, the plan outlines actions such as developing multilingual welcome packs, enhancing access to local services, and promoting cultural events.

Feels LIKe Home

Settling into Kaipara as a new family feels like exhaling after a long journey. The wide skies, friendly greetings from neighbours, and the laughter at local markets make you feel welcome from day one. Schools, medical centres, and sports clubs are close by, but it’s the spirit of the place - the genuine kindness, the slower pace, the space to breathe and grow - that truly makes it home. In Kaipara, you don’t just live, you belong.

Over the coming months, we will add all the resources and links that you’ll need to help you settle into your new home. In the meantime, check out the online Welcome Pack on the Kaipara District Council website.
